Dr. Nam Hoang Dang, MD, Ph.D.

Dr. Nam Hoang Dang

As Chief of Hematological Malignancies for Nevada Cancer Institute, Dr. Dang is focused on developing novel therapies that derive from in-depth knowledge of basic biological processes, particularly those involving apoptosis, immune activation, cellular signal transduction, and cell cycleregulation. Originally from Vietnam, Dr. Dang came to the US as a refugee with his entire family as a 12-year-old boy in 1975. After spending time in refugee camps off the coast of California, he and his family moved to Dallas, Texas with the support of a church located in Highland Park. Instilled with a passion for learning from his parents, Dang began to learn English by listening to sports radio talk shows in Dallas. He graduated as valedictorian from Highland Park High School and went to Harvard University and Harvard Medical School, where he graduated with top honors, earning his B.A. (magna cum laude), M.D. (magna cum laude), and Ph.D. degrees.
